Our general surgeons perform consultations and surgeries on medical conditions involving the breast, endocrine system, gastrointestinal tract, colon, liver, pancreas and rectum. The majority of our procedures are performed either laparoscopically and/or robotic-assisted.
Laparoscopic, or minimally invasive, surgery is a specialized technique that results in less pain, a shorter recovery and less scarring. The technique involves making several small incisions, or ports, where special instruments are passed through allowing a surgeon to watch detailed images of the abdomen on a high-resolution video monitor.
Robotic-assisted surgeries are beneficial because of the smaller incisions and improved surgical precision. Patients benefits may include a shorter hospital stay, less pain, less risk of infection, less blood loss, reduced need for transfusions, less scarring, faster recovery and a quicker return to normal daily activities.
